MID-LIFT®

CAMS 101-C

TECH-LINE

CAMS 101-B

DURATION is shown as 165°10'. To compare with the terminology and specs that would be used in selling this cam, or checking it on the engine, this figure would be double, or 330°. But this is the measurement perspective the cam is engineered from.

The CAM LOBE is represented in WHITE lines, with the white dashed line illustrating the base circle in contrast to the cam lobe, if it was to continue around.

CAM DURATION is shown here in TWO perspectives. The  GREEN HATCH  illustrates the SWEEP across the lobe as 165°10', while our RED HATCH represents the BASE CIRCLE, having no cam lift duration. In looking at this, remember that you are seeing the actual CAM DEGREES illustrated, NOT "Crank Degrees," which is TWICE the number (because the cam is running at half the speed). So the GROSS DURATION shown here would really be spoke of by an engine builder or the cam company selling the cam, as twice that shown above, or 330° (and 20 minutes, but it would simply be rounded off to 330).

NOTE: CAM LOBE, CAM BASE CIRCLE, CAM NOSE, ACCELERATION RAMP (also known as FLANKS) are illustrated. Double Click on any of these terms for more info under: DEFINITIONS.
