CAM BASICS: This is far more than "basic." This EXPANDED 36 page version of the 20 page original is fully illustrated with commentary on fundamental differences of cam design and selection, not found anywhere else. New material written solely for this document discusses various cam choices and why, with detailed terms and explanations about cams is crossed over from Terms & Definitions. Anyone just starting out or even those advanced on professional engine building will find the terms, effects and illustrations that cover cam design and the thinking behind their selection -- very informative, while breaking down the often confusing and misunderstood terms when cams are bought. This is a valuable essence to any serious engine builder who wants to stay grounded in the fundamentals and avoid the often overly hyped rhetoric used by some companies to sell their latest confusion. DESIGN GEOMETRY

DESIGN Geometry: is 18 pages of the most "in depth" tech you'll ever find on rocker arm design principles, modifications and fixes for knowing how to get the most from what you have. Hi-resolution CAD illustrations allow zooming in to see what is really important on both sides of the rocker arm’s motion for precise valve train design and application, regardless what the brand of rocker arm or the engine being used may be. This is “designer’s” insight from the man who developed "the standard" nearly 40 years ago and taught it to World Champion engine builders and top NASCAR team mechanics. The reader is armed with an understanding of "what  it's all about" to choose, fix, or modify their existing system for optimum performance; or know why they can’t! This is unedited, unhidden facts of simple precision that only a few professional people today really understand or appreciate, and even fewer practice; yet this can be the definitive edge in extracting optimum performance and longevity to any high performance OHV engine’s valve train. ($15.00)

INSTALLED Geometry: Is the easiest and most accurate means of setting rocker arm geometry on any STUD mounted rocker; but the principles apply to shaft systems as well. Although the basics are covered at no cost on this web site, more detail is shown and explained with additional illustrations not found anywhere else, including a detailed illustration and overview of what the consequences are between the roller tip side of the rocker arm and the pushrod with "conventional" roller rockers. This addresses the best way to measure and find exact pivot point placement so you can order exactly what push-rod length you need to be sure the roller tip has the ultimate least amount of motion across the valve. This formula applies to any roller tip rocker arm, regardless of brand or application. ($10.00)

INSTALLED Geometry - STAND Systems: This hi-resolution CAD illustrated 10 page brochure presents the shaft system engine builder with an easy and precise method for establishing the exact stand height before measuring to order pushrods, using simple tools for measurements taken directly from the valve, this is the easiest way to find the exact pivot point to a stand mounted system so you can modify the stands, or shim them to exactly what is needed, within .003". Failure to use such precision will lose several degrees of CAM information at the valve. A "must have" companion to DESIGN Geometry, this illustrates measuring heads directly on the work bench or mounted on the engine, and applies to any shaft mounted roller tip rocker arm, regardless of brand or application. ($10.00)

TERMS & Definitions: This is SIXTY-TWO pages with over 225 terms, not found published in any other publication to this extent, with additional tricks, micro-stories and comments that put specific items of interest in perspective choosing parts critical to matching valve train and cylinder heads of high performance engines. This is the definitive collection necessary to complete a full overview of the priorities of MID-LIFT valve train design and application, because it covers specific points of cam application and cylinder flow considerations not found anywhere else! As with Design Geometry and Installed Geometry, Terms & Definitions is a "must have" for any serious technical guru of high performance engines. ($10.00)

VALVE TRAIN: This is a fully illustrated 16 page overview of all the basic references you need to be aware of to avoid many common mistakes with choosing valve train parts and assembling them. It begins with precise geometrical motion illustrations and design parameters shown on the original stamped shoe tip rocker arm you won't find anywhere except from the founder of the MID-LIFT Patent. Valve Train continues with priorities on choosing valve lengths, rocker arm mounting, valve tip height and presents tips to avoid twisted rocker arm installations. These are the priorities of measurements in cam and valve lift, as they relate to rocker arm operating principles and cylinder head with valve assembly design parameters. This is a needed set of principles, tips and standards which every serious engine builder, beginner or experienced, should take into account before committing to parts and specs that may not work well as an assembly. ($5.00)

HISTORY of MID-LIFT: This is a FREE Download, to explain how MID-LIFT technology came into being, as well as a general parallel of roller rocker arm development that allowed the mistake of inaccurate rocker geometry to continue for so many years.
